WordPress vs Joomla

Years ago, when I was a undergrade student i was into Joomla to find different ways to make money developing webpages for small business, I didn’t know nothing about WordPress, not even that this one was more complete and popular than Joomla, a good comment i received that time was “Internet is almost made by wordpress, at least 48% of the web pages are made by wordpress” and now i can noticed why.

AS WordPress and Joomla are the only two CMS I know i will put some facts about these:

  • Security: WordPress’s popularity makes it a target for malicious activities. Security vulnerabilities can arise from poorly coded themes or plugins.

Comparison: WordPress may be more susceptible to security issues due to its wide usage, but regular updates and best practices can mitigate these concerns.
  • Plugins: As WordPress relies heavily on plugins, compatibility issues may arise when updating the core or plugins themselves.

Comparison: Extensive plugin availability is a strength, but users need to be cautious about using well-maintained and compatible plugins.
  • Performance: WordPress can face performance challenges on large and complex websites, especially without proper optimization.

Comparison: While WordPress can scale with optimization, it might not be as inherently scalable as some other CMS platforms.
  • Learning curve: Joomla is often considered less user-friendly for beginners, with a steeper learning curve compared to WordPress.

Comparison: WordPress has a reputation for being more user-friendly, making it a preferred choice for those without extensive technical knowledge.
  • Community: Joomla has a smaller community compared to WordPress, leading to potentially slower updates and fewer third-party resources.

Comparison: WordPress’s larger community means more support, frequent updates, and a wealth of tutorials and resources.
  • Template Customization: Customizing templates in Joomla might be more challenging for users without advanced coding skills.

Comparison: WordPress’s extensive theme customization options are often more accessible to users without a strong coding background.

In conclusion, both WordPress and Joomla have their strengths and weaknesses. The choice between them depends on specific project requirements, user preferences, and the technical expertise available. For me from now on I will start to do my projects with wordpress using a hosting and free services.
